A New Shadow Box

This custom order came from someone who apparently did a search for shadow boxes and saw the one I did for Ornery about a decade ago. The couple loves the song I'm Amazed by You as sung by Tim McGraw, so I used lines from the song as some of the text. Each of the other components has significance to the couple's engagement.

Origami Dress Card

It took me all afternoon, and my studio table looks worse for the wear, but I finished a card for a great-niece's birthday. By making it with just her name on the front, it could be framed to hang in her room. It would be a nice decoration, because really, it is just too cute!!

I found the inspiration on Pinterest that lead to this blog, then I found a YouTube video to show how to fold the dresses. All the papers were from my scrap bin. The dresses and background printed papers are by Chatterbox, card stock by Bazzill, letters were cut with QuicKutz Elizabeth font from a scrap of Wild Asparagus paper by My Mind's Eye. All the trims were also scraps. The brads are Making Memories, the Hangers by Tim Holtz. (I was SO excited to have a project to use those cute little guys!!)

If I was going to try it again, I would be sure to use really thin paper. The line I chose was fairly light weight but I still had a little trouble with some of the folds. The squares I began with were 3", and I would not go any smaller than that. This card is 5X7, and it needed to be that big to get three dresses on it.

Fresh work from a clean studio!

It has been way too long since I updated here, but I have been busy creating! This past weekend I uploaded several new items to the etsy shop, and since then I have done a lot of work rearranging things, both virtually on the shop and physically in my studio!

It still needs a bit of work, but after I finished cleaning it up I got excited about creating and made a couple cards-- apparently I was in a ribbon and button mood today!

Yesterday I sorted buttons. Scads of them! Today I untangled a rat's nest of ribbons and fibers that had all been tossed into a plastic shoe box. Both elements were fresh on my mind, so I went with it! Paper scraps were by KI Memories and Crate Paper. Letters and paper heart from the Paperie.

It might be about time to ramp up the Valentine Card selection--guess that is what I'll work on next. What is on YOUR table today?

Custom Journals and new dominoes

These were special order journals. I find it more difficult to come up with products for men and boys because I don't see the appeal but the buyer was happy, and that is all that counts!

The two dominoes on the right were a special order, but the others will soon be available on the etsy shop.

Faux Mercury Glass, Book Trees and Make-overs

Remember these? I made them a few weeks ago with my friend. Here is what I did with them...

Two of the votives are in use--one under the tree and one under the hurricane lamp globe. The base of the hurricane is a piece of masonite covered with foil. The candle ring is actually three floral picks that I took apart and glued together on the foil.

Here is a new custom item I will be offering on the etsy shop.

The photo really does not do justice to the lovely colors of this domino. I am going to offer the Scrabble letter pendants as custom orders so people can choose a color and a letter.

Special order Dominoes

This month my little etsy shop has been a happenin' place! I just completed a special order for 14 dominoes. I sent photos with the shipping notice and got back a wonderful note:

They are gorgeous - - this must be the quicket turn around on anything I have ordered. Be sure and keep my e-mail address and send me a note next year - - we'll do it again. This is my third year of ordering the Dominoes from different vendors and yours by far are the best.

While I was shopping for embellishments, I was thinking how much more fun it would be if I had made them myself. I am thinking that next year, I will start working with some clay and see what I can come up with.

New Directions!

It seems like I have been doing the same old thing forever, although I am sure given my propensity to change things up that can't possibly be true! I have noticed that this fall I have really given some time and thought to new directions. I am not just sitting still and making cards anymore.

I have added new dimensions to my dominoes, mixing colors like I never was brave enough to do before...

I came up with an original idea--although I did borrow the ribbons on the clip idea from someone else...

I started using more stamps and punches on the cards I make--and of course the addition of those lovely crocheted flowers...

I have started helping Ornery with his wood crafting. He makes all the cuts and I do the finishing. Here is a set of baskets he made...

Folded books, faux mercury glass, alcohol inks blown on glass--all new arenas for me!

I have even started working with fabric again! It has been years since I was interested in it, but lately I am starting to amass a stash--although it doesn't come close to rivaling my paper stash for size!

I made these little tags for my daughter's entry into the cookie exchange I am hosting in December. (She is making a cherry shortbread cookie) While this isn't really a new thing--it is different from any I have made before. Each project has been a learning experience.

I am in the process of painting a garage sale table with a real picture on the top. I have procrastinated on it because I am afraid it won't look good, but I am slowly working my way up to the top, at which time I will have no choice but to just do it!

Tastes and styles change over time, and I seem to have had quite a bit of change in my life this year!

New cards

It has been a while since I sat down to make some cards. My new granddaughter is due in a few days, and I needed to make a card for her, and while I was at it, I started on a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law, who loves getting a full year's worth of birthday cards to send to all the family members. It is times like this I am glad she has a fairly small family!

I saw a really cute card on Pinterest that was similar to this, and I adapted it to the product I had on hand. It took two tries to get the rub on letters right since they are so small. Ale is doing Makayla's room in pink and green, so I chose those colors. I was pleased with the end result--hopefully she will be too! I didn't put any sentiment on the front, in case she wants to frame it to hang in her room.

Etsy Rocks!

I have had a number of sales over the past few weeks in my etsy shop. Today I uploaded a dozen or more dominoes and rearranged the shop. I am running a sale right now, buy one domino, get one free. Free dominoes are not listed in the shop, and are "pot luck" but they are all cool little pendants. Trying to figure out how to list it...

Next I will list some more of the cards I have made. I don't have a lot left, but they won't sell unless they are listed, right?

Meanwhile, I have finished painting some shelves to hang in my guest room and am getting ready to start painting a little table I bought at a yard sale a month or so ago. I have a picture I hope to be able to reproduce on it, but I have never done anything like this before.

Pumpkin Porch Decor

These fun little pumpkin porch decorations were inspired by a Pinterest Pin. Both sets were from one landscape timber ((about $6.00 from Lowe's)

Ornery cut out the leaves out of the Masonite back of an old Picture frame--the same piece he used to make another project.

He made some gouges with a chisel, then we painted them. He helped us put a couple of screws into each one through the base piece and we wrapped a dead grapevine around them, hot glued some Spanish Moss around the base and cut some branches off a dead bush in the back yard for the stems.

Each one is a little different, but we had so much fun making them!

Catching Up

It has been a long time since I posted anything new here, so I am playing catch up. I have only done a couple of cards this summer, since we moved in May and I have been "nesting" ever since! The house is coming together nicely, though, and I am almost ready to get back to crafting "full time" -- or as full-time as a homemaker can get! Here are a few of the things I have been working on besides painting walls and rearranging furniture...

I have continued to create these fun little stocking ornaments. I decided not to use them in the ornament exchange except as prizes. The rest are going to be gifts and a few may end up in my etsy shop.

One evening I decided I wanted to do a little crafting, so I whipped out this monotone paper (it is double sided, so the stripes and snowflakes are from the same sheet) and decided to do something a little different. I stained the back of the wooden stocking with brown alcohol inks instead of painting it, and I used lace to embellish it. Simple but I think pretty. The little heart is something my husband cut out just after he got his scroll saw. It had been wandering around in various containers in my stash so I decided to do something with it. First I stained it with pinks and purples (alcohol ink) then spritzed some glimmer mist on it. I backed it with paper then added the little ruffle and a beaded hanger. I hung it in my little gallery outside my studio...

The heart is hanging above the framed cards on the left side. The other things are projects I have made--I am especially proud of my first "painting" using mixed media. The shadow box was from a few years ago, and here is the "Z", in its previous state:

It just seemed so plain--especially after I made this "A" for my niece:

Another project my husband and I did together was this frame for some clock dipping bowls I bought at Pottery Barn a couple years ago. It was his first attempt at a frame, and I thought he did pretty well all things considered.

I painted it and lined it with black velvet, then glued everything in. It was the perfect accent for the wall I hung it on.

I am working on some other ornaments for the exchange using old hymnal pages to decoupage on glass balls. I will come up with some sort of fancy tag to put at the top. I also bought another box of clear glass ornaments and will experiment with some alcohol inks on those. I have about twenty projects on my list; as soon as I get things made, I'll be posting.

Funky Stocking Ornaments

Here are the first few ornaments for 2011. I started out making them for my ornament exchange but decided they were so fun and different I would try to sell a few, too. Click on the photo to go to the etsy listing.

In the photos they look pretty big, but they are only six inches long. Each ornament comes with a curly hanger. They all have little bells on the toes, and most have a little light on the hanger.

SOLD

I love the blue and green together. I have used several different fibers on the top of this one, and it sort of looks like the sock is wearing a scarf. This stocking is sold.

This one has several buttons glued on it, with glitter embellishing here and there to add some sparkle.

I let the paper do the talking on this little sock. It is very Christmas-y with stockings, ornaments, and candy stripes. There are little spots of glitter here and there to add some sparkle, and (you can't see it in the picture) a polka-dotted ribbon on the hanger.

I love this paper combination. It is Christmas without being red and green. Under all that wild fiber there is an orange Christmas light hiding. This is really fresh and funky!

This is spoken for so it isn't for sale, but I wanted to show it off, anyway. Rather than add toe and heel, I added a sole in pink glitter paper on top of the flocked background. Then I added feathers and flowers, and tied a black and pink ribbon to the hanger. It is bold and a little wild!

I have used bits and pieces of this KI Memories Christmas paper for several years, and I have never tired of it. I love the non-traditional look of the pink with green. The lights let you know it is still Christmas paper, and I have added a little bit of ribbon with some reindeer on it around the cuff and a little light on the hanger.

This little sock is glitz and glitter all over the place! All the papers have glitter on them, and I have added bits of glitter to the seams of the toe and heel. I took a piece of crocheted lace and tied it together to make a bow, then made a little pom-pom out of the fiber to put in the middle. The photo just really doesn't do it justice--it is a cutie!!

This one is spoken for. Another non-traditional color combination but the bells and lights let you know it is a tree ornament. This has glitter, metallic spritz, and rhinestones on it to make it shine on the tree.

I have sixteen cut out, nine are finished, and one more that needs some additions to it. I will be making another 16 once these are done.

Map from 1958 National Geographic Society of the British Isles. Top is Ireland, bottom Scotland, inside Ireland and Isle of Wight. The top and bottom have an acrylic sealer on them to help protect the map from tearing. The outside edge has a black velvet ribbon attached.

Recycling Old Frames

A couple of years ago I got a harebrained idea to frame a whole bunch of photos in different styles of frames and put them on my office wall. I liked the look for about a month, then it seemed cluttered and just "off" somehow. When we moved, I was all set to sell all the frames that weren't black, and in fact put them in my little booth at the antique mall. Since none of them sold, I brought them all home and decided I would recycle them into something for my new decor.

Today my friend came over to craft with me and helped me create these beautiful frames. Most of the ideas were my own, but she interjected several excellent suggestions that all enhanced the project considerably. I took pictures along the way, in case any reader wanted to recreate them at home, so those photos and a tutorial follow. Enjoy!

Click on the image to see better. The large frame still needs something in it, but I put together the contents of the two smaller ones today.

This was the large frame that I started with. First take the glass and mat out and set aside.

I used Making Memories acrylic paint, but I think latex might have worked a little better. Also, priming or scuffing the surface some would have helped the paint to adhere better. I started with white paint, putting two coats on and letting it dry thoroughly.

I wasn't too worried about getting it perfect since I knew I would be smudging other stuff on it.

Next, I sponged on some very watered down brown paint so it would get into all the crevices. This I wiped off with a paper towel, leaving it sort of smudged and dirty looking. While it was drying, I removed the inner wooden piece around the mat opening and used some pages from an old hymnal to decoupage onto the mat.

This is a picture of the mat after I had it decoupaged and reapplied the little wooden inner frame. I used the ink and that little tool to sponge on some walnut ink to the frame, then I put it all together.

Here is a closer look at the other two frames. I did pretty much the same thing for them, only instead of sponging on the walnut ink, I spritzed on glimmer mist (green) and Smooch (gingerbread). Each layer of different medium gave it a different look. I think I could have kept on adding things all day!

I used a piece of printed paper cut to size then stamped and embossed the three images onto a page from the hymnal. Then I tore around the edges to make it fit the frame better, as well as deal with a few tears that were already there.

This other one has a little bit of three dimensional look to it with the raised bird and rubberized leaves. I will print out a little text box to put in the upper right hand corner when I decide what to put in the third frame.

New Little Flowers

I found a shop on etsy a week or so ago that sold these tiny crocheted flowers, so I ordered four different colors. I will probably have to go back and buy more, but the first set came yesterday! She even included a bonus of three bigger flowers, and I am pretty sure an additional 9 small ones from what I ordered, because I thought there were supposed to be ten of each color... Here they are all unpacked and ready to go into the flower box.

I always have a burst of motivation when I get new goodies, so I sat down and made this note card, and another (not pictured) from the same paper.

This was from the same paper I used last week when making the note card set that my daughter bought--I still had enough to make another card or two.

Then, I used some of the other papers I had pulled out to use last week but ran out of time. LOVE this gerbera daisy design and the fun colors!

I only decorated the one card, but it has two crocheted flowers on a paper one. The pink flower is one my friend made while trying to teach me to crochet. I think we both decided THAT was a lost cause!

Domino on a Package

My daughter bought some note cards and a journal for a gift for a friend, and I offered to wrap them for her. When it was all done, I added this domino to the package to give it a fun finishing touch. It will be a nice keepsake for her long after the paper goods inside are used up.

Back in the Studio

Since I am not selling these, I didn't take much care with the photos, but if you click on the image, you should be able to enlarge it well enough to see the details if you like. I am in the process of building up my own stash of birthday cards, and these were the first ones I made. I am still working on trying to get rid of old craft supplies, so I rummaged around through many of my little bins to find the pockets and feathers.

I also had a package of 50 metallic smoke colored cards, and a package of 50 pale silver envelopes, both with a leather-like texture on them. I printed out some "from the desk of tracy miller" insets for the fronts, and now I have a nice set of stationary! Usually, if I write more than a brief note, I add pages of paper to it, so I wasn't worried about the smaller size. I think they will be just right.

The winner requested birthday cards. Since I don't know her, I didn't know her style... so I made lots of different styles! The first photo is of all 12 cards, the others are close ups, but one of them didn't turn out very clear. I used a variety of elements including embossing glitter, perfect pearls, flowers, stickers, feathers, shimmer mist, ribbon and brads. Most of the envelopes are white, but I put a couple of shimmery textured green ones in the mix, as well. I thought they turned out cute, I hope she does!

Our Business Page on Facebook reached 100 fans this weekend! We did a little drawing for a set of note cards and Jules Amundson of Grand Forks, ND won the prize! I'll be working on getting a set of Birthday cards made for her this week. Meanwhile, we're working on the next hundred fans!

Pretty Busy!

The last week has been really busy with sales for our little shop! We've sold mini-clipboards, over 30 dominoes, all but six of the Christmas cards and several other items from the site, too. In addition, I have completed all the special orders (except one set of map note cards).

I've kept the data management personnel (Ornery) pretty busy keeping the inventory taken off the sites (website and Facebook). After Christmas we are going to do away with the shopping cart on Facebook and just direct people to the website for shopping. That will make it easier to keep track of the inventory since we currently have to add and remove items from both sites in separate files. We are also going to change shopping cart applications so that more things will be automated and we have more options for coupons, shipping, etc. I am looking forward to that!

Now that the ironing is all caught up (thanks to my daughter-in-law!) the studio isn't as crowded, so I will be setting my little table back up and begin producing stuff again. I still have dozens of projects I want to make, and supplies to complete thousands of things! It's been a nice little break, but I am ready to get back into creativity mode!

I decided to spend a little time in my craft room today--the first time since the sale!-- and I made an address and phone book like the one I made before, only covered in paper instead of fabric and it has about 1/4 the ribbons on the spine (hence is only $10. instead of $20!)

I designed it so there is a pocket on the front for a book or two of stamps, so you won't have to look for them when writing a letter. I rummaged through my old foreign stamps and found some with birds on them to go with the bird design on the paper I used for the cover. They are all old and canceled stamps (one is from the US, one from Poland, one from Czechoslovakia, and I am not sure where the other one is from as it is printed in the native tongue and I don't speak it.)

The interior has tabs for the alphabet for ease of use, and the print is large to allow for ease of recording and reading the entries. There are spaces for about 20 entries per letter.

Well, we had our Unique Gift Event Saturday, and it was fun and relatively successful. I fell way short of the goal I had set, but I sold more than anyone else, and I sold more than I thought I would considering the lack of customers. The thing I sold out of? Caramels!

Next up, we are advertising on a very popular blog from December 1 through 31. We have been working to make sure all our merchandise is loaded on both our website and our Facebook page. We discovered that there are at least 100 items that are not loaded in both spots--some not in either one! We have lots of stuff to do to get ready for that, so it is a good thing that Ornery will be off for a few days this week! In preparation for the (hopefully!) big month ahead, I have taken all the items off the etsy shop so I don't have to try to maintain three sites.

If you missed our sale, you can still purchase things online. I'll be doing some more designing and creating over the next couple of weeks, too.

Here are some photos of "the night before the big sale" at Miller Manor!
These are frames from The Organic Bloom. They have grown so fast that they are not really selling retail anymore, but since they said they would be at this show before they took off (5500 fans on Facebook!) they are selling these for us, and will honor orders placed at the show... although she had no cards, flyers or price sheets to hand out, since they have sent them all off to potential wholesale buyers!
Here is their whole set up. The piano made a nice little display spot for them!

Next up is Diane Barfield's Jewel Reflections set up. Dichroic glass jewelry is her specialty, and she has some lovely pieces for sale.

The Studio is Clean!

I can't remember when the last time my studio was cleaned up. I have had a side table set up for so long I forgot how big the room was without it! I took it down, put away all the stuff, and reorganized a lot of it. After Thanksgiving, I will work in here again, but for now, it is going to just stay clean and orderly!

A friend encouraged me to do some of these, so a few weeks ago I bought some at Office Depot to experiment with. This is the first one. It was very time consuming, and the fabric/paper and embellishments rather expensive as those things go, but I was pleased with the result. $20

Shadow Boxes & Frame

Here is the latest set of photos from my recent project. (Next will be new cards...) As you know I have been on a "use it up" mission this year. This chipboard frame had been in the stash for at least three years, maybe longer. I recently found the My Mind's Eye Lil' Robots papers and just this week found (on the clearance table!) a set of Maya Road Robots. The robots were clear plastic cut outs, and I knew they would not show up unless I colored them. Since they were sheer, I first had to paint the backs of them all white. I used a sharpie poster marker for the backs, and sharpies and slick writers for the fronts.

The chipboard swirl that encircles the opening was unfinished, so I used a glitter glaze on it. In my mind it represents a wire running through and "connecting" all the robots together. There are little "gears" (by Little Yellow Bicycle) and wire with tiny jingle bells attached at various places--just things a kid might need if he decided to build a robot... The frame took me HOURS to make, so even though it is "just" chipboard, it is still $25. I think it would look really cute in some little boy's room, or on the desk of a techno geek. :)

Next, I unearthed a set of three (only two are done) small shadow boxes. I found them at a garage sale, so they are recycled in a sense. The top one has a rub-on embellishment affixed to the top of the "glass" (it is actually plastic) and three random print flowers with square embellished brads as centers. The paper background has a very subtle ledger print on it so as not to distract the eye from the text. It is called Random Acts of Kindness, measures 4X7, and sells for $6.

Jonathan Swift penned, "May you live all the days of your life." This little shadow box measures 4X4 and has the clear text attached to the inside of the "glass". A lovely butterfly perches on the corner of airy leaf paper. It is called, Live all the days and sells for $5.

Next up, I am posting photos of two different 12X12 shadow boxes that I have made for Ornery and myself. I am posting them here so you can have an idea of what I can do for you! Cost will vary depending on how many trinkets and embellishments are involved, but I love doing these for people! If you are interested, email me and we will talk...

The top one has a lot of personal notes in it. I did one for one woman that contained (among other things) a photocopy of the advertisement that she put in the personal ads of the local paper. It generated a LOT of interest, and landed her a stellar husband! Everyone has a story to tell, and there are often little bits of paper you don't want to lose track of--we can incorporate them into a beautiful shadow box like these.

This is one I just made yesterday. I covered the chipboard swirl on the right side with some very old hymnal sheet music, and used more of it beneath one of the prints. This one would be much less costly to make because it has a lot less stuff in it.

The latest products have been photographed and are in the process of being uploaded onto the website. All the items we had on the website before today are available to purchase through our Facebook Business Page, and should be uploaded there in the next day or two. You can use paypal there. Dave is currently working on the shopping cart on the website, so hopefully it will be up and running in the near future, as well.

We've had a few sales this week--two checkbook covers, four sets of note cards, a few single birthday and thank you cards and an airplane. We also added a few new "fans" or followers, or whatever they are called on the Facebook business page. Until very recently, all our fans were friends, but we actually have a few "perfect" strangers on there, now!

Only two more weeks until our sale. I haven't quite gotten everything done that I wanted to, but I do still have some time. Meanwhile, the pile of stuff in the dining room is growing and I am feeling very good about having so many things made!

Recycling Coffee Cans

I continued working with tins today, and these twelve one-pound coffee cans with Christmas fabric and ribbon. I used ModPodge to adhere the fabric to the tin, and photo tape to attach the ribbon. Inside the lid, I have placed a single glue dot to the center and attached a piece of holiday paper cut to the inside dimension of the lid. You can see the paper through the lid, but not real clearly.
Inside these tins, I plan to put bags of home made granola. I haven't decided if I will add additional embellishments to the tins, but I will be printing out an ingredients list and sticking it to the bottom. I like recycling things to a new purpose, and these not only will serve as packaging for my granola, but also can be reused to gift cookies or store holiday items in once the granola is gone.

Ten Tins

Well, there are only nine shown here, but I actually made ten... They are recycled lozenge tins, and come loaded with a little coupon book for you to fill in with heart felt gifts of time or services.

The tins are metal, and have a unique design in that to open them you press on the center of the lid, and to close them you squeeze the sides of the lid.
Each coupon book has ten blank coupons in it. The tin is lined on the bottom with a coordinating paper. A label on the bottom of the tin gives opening instructions. :)

These will sell for $6 each.

Wax Dipped Pine Cones

Last year for our Christmas Ornament Exchange, I made some wax-dipped pine cones and added a cinnamon stick and holly leaves and berries to the bottoms. There is something about pine cones that says Christmas to me, and the wax on them really enhances their natural beauty.

Well, earlier this fall, my daughter-in-law asked if I still had any pine cones left, and wondered if we could make some more. I mentioned to a new blogging buddy who lives in Alabama that I would love to have a box of the pine cones he was burning in his brush pile, and he sent me some! I still had some red wax left from last year, but I also purchased some golden and brown colored candles to use as well.
This is a bowl (also a gift from a different blogging friend!) full of the three colors. I don't add wicks to them because I don't want anyone to think they are candles--that would be a disaster of monumental proportions! However, these can be nestled in amongst some kindling and started with a piece of paper beneath them, and they add a nice light fragrance and relatively long burning kindling aid to help get the fire going.

Of course, they are also very nice to use as a centerpiece--just be sure you don't put them on anything that would stain, as the wax is an oil based product and could stain linens or other surfaces, especially if it gets warm.

I have packaged them for sale in clear cellophane wrap, three cones (one of each different color/scent) to a package. The scents are not overpowering--I am fairly sensitive to fragrance, and they have not bothered me--but mingle together to make a pleasant potpourri of holiday scents. Cost $7.50 per package of three.

These would make a nice inexpensive gift for an office gift exchange, or for a teacher, co-worker or neighbor. Put in a basket with some homemade cookies and your gift would be the envy of the party!

Armed with a whole shoe box full of old maps, I decided to make some blank note card sets with various maps cut apart. The three sets pictured here have from 8 to 15 cards in them, depending on how many usable pieces I could get from the map. So far I have five complete sets, with about three more planned. I put two cancelled stamps on each card in one of the sets, but I haven't decided whether I will add those to the other sets or not. I have a go-zillion cancelled stamps--maybe I'll make a few sets with just map pieces and a collage of stamps... hmmm.

Most of my day today was spent in the craft room. I hadn't used up all the My Mind's Eye papers, but I put the rest of the scraps aside to use next year. I figured I had enough pink Christmas cards for this one! The number beside a name indicates the price. There are two that had expensive embellishments on them--not that the card was difficult to make, but the components were more costly than the others.

I wanted to let you know that many of these cards will require extra postage if mailed, due to the fact that they would not be machinable. If in doubt, please take them to your post office and have them checked--you'd hate to have them returned for postage!

Plans Are Progressing

It has been pretty busy around Miller Manor lately, as we have been working to get things ready for our upcoming Gift Event. There is still a lot to be done, but I thought I'd post a little update here of the latest happenings.

I found this old paperback book rack at a flea market several months ago, and painted it green--because I like green, and it is a prominent color in our logo and website. There are 80 slots, and each slot could hold about 20 cards, but I don't think I will have 1600 cards made by November 20th. (although I probably have enough supplies...)

Today I moved the cards I had already completed, bagged and labeled into the rack to get a feel for what it might look like. I am pleased with the results. :)

This Hoosier cupboard is a family heirloom that has been the deciding factor in whether a floor plan would work anytime we have bought a new home. It has housed myriad things through the years, but it is currently empty of all except the crafted items I have made for the sale. It should be fairly full by show time.

I spent a bit of time this weekend cleaning it up and putting some paper down on the pie-safe shelves and in the roll-top area. The roll top doesn't close anymore. :(

This is the display for all the clipboards, both full sized and magnetic memo-boards. Again, I have repurposed items I had or found, this time the basket was from an old silk/dried flower arrangement and an oil drip pan I scrounged from a garage-sale reject pile--it was headed for the dump. I painted it copper and wedged it down in the basket. I am very happy with the way this turned out. just to the right of the basket, you can see the legs of an antique sewing machine cabinet. That will house a few things, and there is already a little basket of bagged lengths of fiber, in case other crafters come to shop.

Ornery is slated to build a shelf from fence pickets next weekend, and I will paint that brick red. It will house all the journals--I have a shipment coming back from Tucson that I will add to the inventory as soon as it arrives. We still have to figure out how to display all the dominoes--we just don't have enough hooks on things to show them all. I am sure inspiration will hit soon...

I feel really good about the display and promotional parts of the show--I got the flyer done earlier in the week, and spent an hour on Friday addressing envelopes of friends who aren't on Facebook so they could see what we are up to.

This week every spare minute I have will be spent making cards, checkbook covers, luggage tags, and covered tins. I have a great idea for some coupon books in the cutest little round tins, but that will require a bit of thought, planning and spray paint. The tins have a very unique closure mechanism, and I think they will sell just because they are such a novelty! I am hoping to also get a couple of scrapbooks and some shadow boxes done, but they are not high on my priority list.

We just have a little less than five weeks until show time!! I am very excited!!

I broke out the first of the uncut papers today! This Crate Paper was on the top of the pile (the Christmas paper folder is about an inch thick, so there are lots more new designs to come!) I used all but a few little pieces of 3 double sided sheets. I think if I really tried I could get one more card out of the scraps, but I'd have to add some other paper for the base. This journal was very time consuming, but I was on a substantial learning curve! I don't know how true the colors are on the screen, but it is pretty bright and cheery, and it has that handy pocket on the front to store a pen and notes or whatever.

Cleaning up led me to a new direction-- I cut pockets off some jeans and corduroy pants that were otherwise ruined, and discovered the fun rose trim in a drawer. The paper was from a kit I used most of a couple of months ago, and it all came together so beautifully!

Cleaning Unveils Treasures...

Sometimes I keep things that I can reuse in another project. Today I cleaned out my craft room closet and sorted through a few drawers and boxes. The room looks MUCH better, and I uncovered all sorts of things--some I didn't even realize I had! Most of these cards have recycled components, or they were very plain cards that never were used or sold.
Thinking of You--started out as a 5X7 card from a class about five years ago. I cut it down and put it on a 4.25X5.5 card base, then added flowers and bling. Voila! A new card!
Square "HI" card -- I added the flower and changed the whole look!
This card is actually parts of two reclaimed cards. The card is a single sheet, and the part that you write on slides out of the scalloped envelope. Despite its pink and lime green colors, it really is a Christmas card. :)

Morning Glory Thank You-- This was from scraps and a sticker I found that I had forgotten about.
Poinsettia Christmas-- Another plain card I found that needed some dressing up. A couple of flowers and it looks like a new design!

For several years I have stashed empty tins, jars and bottles with the intention of making something beautiful and useful out of them. Here is the first batch of them for sale. I have the jar set below (first two pictured) listed on my etsy shop, as well as the last tin. The rest I am waiting to put on my new website, which Ornery says should be ready in a couple/three weeks.

Either the jars or the tins would be great for wrapping a couple of those cute altered dominoes in. :) (see previous post)
