Playing with Twinks

This week I have been working with hot colors--oranges and reds.  First I made a card for my beloved.

Then I did this copy of a picture I found on Pinterest.

My daughter is going to use pen and ink to do a loose outline and stems for the flowers.  I am really happy with the look so far!

Mother's Day Cards

These are the first of my original designs using Luminarte's Twinkling H2O paints.  Actually, they aren't really the first, but they are the first I have photographed...

You can sort of see the shimmer in the pictures, but it doesn't really photograph very well...

I was especially proud of this one.  The shading on the leaves turned out so pretty, I thought.

Elizabeth helped me with the shading on the card above and the one below.  She used Prismacolor pencils to shade, but the mica in the paints tended to repel the wax to some extent.  I loved the way the leaves on this turned out.

This blue card is my first one to actually draw myself.  The others are just traced around chipboard shapes.  I used the drapes in my studio for inspiration, although there is very little resemblance to the flowers on the drapes to be found on this card...

So fun to use lots of different shades of the same color as I did here with this purple card.  I have found that the angled flat brush is my favorite, and it made adding the lines on these petals very easy.

Journal Entries for April/May

It has been a while since I uploaded journal images, so I thought I might do that...

This is my most recent addition, called USE ALL THE COLORS!!!  I traced around some chipboard flowers and then painted each one a different colors, then filled in around them with a combination of five different blues and greens.  I sprayed some water all over to blur the edges, then added some glimmer mist.  I finished it on Cinco de Mayo, which seems rather appropriate for some reason.

This was one of my monochromatic studies, although I sort of ruined the them with the green leaves and yellow/orange background.  I did use several hues of purple...

Be Green used all the greens I had when I created it.  There are additions of plastic flowers and tiny beads glued to the B and the two capital E's.  It was fun...

I focused on the hot reds and oranges here, but since I completed it, I have added several more of both those colors to my palette.
